About

This site will be about an adventure.  The adventure of designing, setting up, and running a site designed to make money.  The amount of money is not really important as long as some profit is made.  It is basically a test case.  The site will be about what research I do and the things I look into in furtherance of that goal.  I will report on all the research and why I decide on what I choose to do.  I am looking forward to this and hope others will enjoy and/or learn by it also.

As I say on the home page I am 56 and just getting ready to graduate with my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with an emphasis on Web Design.  This will be my first excursion into setting up a site online but I am sure it will not be my last.  I go by Patch777.  I seem to end up always being called Patch, probably because of the eye patch I wear on my right eye.  I have an eye but I don’t see out of it and it is very light sensitive so the doctors have me wear an eye patch.  My eye went out back when I was about twenty and I started wearing the eyepatch when I was about forty at the insistence of my doctor.  I have to admit wearing the patch is a lot more comfortable than walking around all day with my eye shut.  That light sensitivity actually hurts and the sunglasses never did work very well.  I am married and live in central Florida with my wife.  We live in a small town south of Ocala.  For most of my life I have worked in construction.  I am a master carpenter.  I started out in framing then moved to form work and then more framing, then trim work and finally into custom trim work.  I was the trim carpentry superintendent for the twenty-seven story federal courthouse in Jacksonville, Florida.  Later I went into buying and remodeling homes for myself.  It worked out well for a while but then some people put fraudulant mortgages on all my properties and it ended up costing me pretty much everything I owned by the time I got it straightened out.  That was a couple of years ago and just as the real estate market crashed.  Obviously, there hasn’t been much construction since then.  At least not here in central Florida.  Since there was no work going on I looked into going back to school for computers.  I had started a programming degree over thirty years ago and never finished it.  Seemed like it might be a good time to do so.  I started checking into it and two weeks later I was in school.  I checked into several schools and decided on Strayer University.  They enable me to take my classes online and have been pretty helpful about everything.  I couldn’t believe they got me in with my government loan approved in two weeks.  When I was younger it took months to do that.  So now I am in my last quarter.  I have enjoyed it so much that I now plan to keep going and get my master’s degree also.  I will be looking for work after I graduate this December though.  Hopefully, this site can help out a little.  If I can prove the concept perhaps I can make other sites until they add up to enough income to make a living.  That would be fantastic.  We’ll see about that.
